Make plans now to attend the 2016 "Memory Lights" Walk at Homewood’s Central Park on Saturday, June 18, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
This will be a peaceful, serene "walk in the park," planned especially to memorialize the loved ones who have gone on before us. The walk around Homewood Park is approximately 1/2 mile and is lit for evening walking. There will be no timing of the walk...walk at your on pace. The event is meant to be a time for meditating and reflecting and remembering a parent, spouse, child, sibling, friend, even a pet. In fact, this is a dog- and child-friendly walk. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will end at the Center Meadow, where there will be music, a moon jump, and water and food trucks, and other surprises. At 8:30 p.m., there will be a memorial moment, honoring those loved ones we have lost, ending with the release of hundreds of large, white, LED-lit helium balloons with messages attached.
The cost to walk is only $25 and covers the cost of give-aways and a commemorative t-shirt for every participant. The cost per balloon is $20 and goes to fund completely FREE grief groups and counseling offered by CGS to all bereaved adults in the 7-county Birmingham area.
