"Lift Your Spirits" - October 20, 2016
WBRC FOX 6 TV Anchor Janet Hall is our Honorary Chairman and Keynote Speaker for our 13th Annual "Lift Your Spirits" Benefit Gala & Auction October 20, 2016.
Janet began her TV career after graduating from The University of Alabama. After a stint in Mobile, she returned to Birmingham to become a weekend news anchor at WBRC. She now co-anchors WBRC FOX6 News at Noon, 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00.
She has received awards from the Associated Press including Best Anchor in Alabama as well as Best Feature Story, Best Documentary and Extraordinary Coverage of a Planned Event. She was recently inducted into the "2016 Silver Circle" by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Janet has served many charities and non-profits. She, her husband and two children are founding members of Asbury United Methodist Church. In her free time, Janet enjoys writing songs, playing guitar and performing with fellow songwriters.
Janet knows loss through the deaths of both her parents.
"Is there such a thing as good grief? I believe I experienced a certain goodness as I grieved following the deaths of my parents. The grief was somehow proof of the happiness they gave to my life," she says.
With a goal of raising at least $80,000 this year, the LYS Benefit Committee is busy soliciting items for our auctions. Lucky bidders will capture a week in Greece, trips to Las Vegas, Washington DC, Seagrove Beach, the mountains in Mentone, or a golf trip to Callaway Gardens, sports memorabilia, vintage wines, fine dining and spa packages, and much more, including a special prize drawing for a great fire pit and the ingredients for s’mores! Great food, stimulating conversation and bargain shopping should help "lift" everyone’s spirits.
Again this year, "Lift Your Spirits" will feature a Corporate Honoree--Dignity Memorial/SCI/Ridout’s-the organization that founded CGS as well as one of our biggest supporters and donors.
Hospitality and the silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 20. A delicious seated dinner will be catered by B&A Warehouse and silent and live auctions will be led by the highly entertaining team from Granger, Thagard. Complimentary valet parking will be provided. To reserve a table or individual seat, contact Erin Slaughter at 205-870-8667.
